Activities and Things to Do in the Local Area

Much walking and climbing is immediately on our doorstep. The farm is right on the National Cycling Track between Oban and Ballachulish.

Oban is the main ferry terminal to the Western Isles, while Fort William is considered the outdoor capital of the Highlands and the start of the road to the Isles. Loch Linnhe is on the west of the road between the two towns and is more than 30 miles long with ferry crossings at various points.

Outdoor pursuits enthusiasts are drawn to the area because of the many opportunities offered by the Nevis Range and the Glencoe Mountain Range. There is an international mountain bike course on each range with gondola or chairlifts to the top. Hill and forest walking is available to suit all ages. Climbing, skiing and snow boarding are also popular, but so too are Canoeing, Sailing, Fishing and Scuba diving on Loch Linnhe. Based from Ballachulish, Paddle Lochaber run day and half day sea kayaking trips for anyone wanting to try Sea Kayaking. They also offer Multiday trips and BCU courses for anyone looking at gaining a qualification. Caving is another interest in the area. Duror area boasts the deepest cave in Scotland (Bealach Uamh Nan Claig-Ionn, or Cave of the Skulls) and also, because of the lime formations in the surrounding hills, there are many other caves.

In May each year the week long Scottish Motor Bike Trials take place in the area. One day is normally allocated to Lagnaha mountain gully course, just behind the farm, a real test for biking skills.

For those who are interested in the past, there is a wealth of both prehistoric and historical information and sites.

Information on all the main leisure pursuits is available throughout the accommodation. If something is missing please ask and we will do our best to find out anything that you want to know.
