WALKING, HILLWALKING, RUNNING, CLIMBING

As the Outdoor Capital of the UK, Lochaber abounds with amazing adventures for all abilities and interests in high and low level mountain experience terrain. The Glen Coe mountains are a stone's throw from Lagnaha. The Nevis Range and the Mamores Munros of the Grampian mountains are also nearby. Remote Ardnamurchan/Strontian peninsula is a short trip over Loch Linnhe with the Corran Ferry.  And across the road from Lagnaha we have Ardsheal Hill - at 263m a short, steep climb with magnificent views of Ben Nevis, Ben More on Mull and islands including Lismore.

The Cycle track behind Lagnaha Farm connects us with Campbeltown in the South, Signal Rock in GlenCoe to the East and Inverness in the North East. MILES and miles of safe cycling through Scotland's beautiful scenery.

THINGS TO DO

Geology - The area is a goldmine for geologists with some of the earliest of Earth's rocks, showcasing volcanic and glacial history.  Lochaber Geopark (visitor centre closed)  https://lochabergeopark.org.uk/

Local History - The West Coast has a multi-layered and multi-faceted history. From Bronze age settlements to crofting townships and then to slate quarries and aluminium factories - the wealth of times gone by are there to be revisited. Connected directly with Lagnaha is The Appin Murder Trail and story upon which Robert Louis Stevenson's "Kidnapped" is based.   The information boards along the cycle track are there to guide you. Around the corner in Glen Coe we have the Scottish National Trust Vistor Centre with its reconstructed Turf House and recounted history of the 1692 Massacre in GlenCoe

Gardens - The temperate climate on the West Coast, influenced by the Gulf Stream, has preserved pockets of ancient Atlantic rainforests, and creates  an ideal micro-climate for both wild flora  and cutivated gardens. Lagnaha has a wild flower and shrub garden.

Whiskey - a wee dram is never amiss. Take a tour of the Ben Nevis Distillery in Fort William or of the Oban Distillery in Oban - or have a wander into one of the excellent whiskey shops in Oban.
